Getting to Whittier is simple, and an easy day trip from Anchorage. There are a number of Whittier transportation options to access Prince William Sound - rental car/self drive, motorcoach and railroad.

Driving Directions

From Anchorage: Drive south about 40 miles on the Seward Highway. Turn left at Portage Glacier Road and continue to Bear Valley, yielding to the left at the "Y" in the road. To access Whittier, proceed through the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel. Follow the signs to Prince William Sound Glacier Cruises office, located at the end of the road on Pier 1.
